Fish Gotta Swim

Wrote this on my bike ride into work. Got guilt tripped by bandmates that all my newer tunes were middle aged, white-bread, laid back, mid-tempo affairs with waning testosterone to match my own endocrinology. So, I had to write a fierce, hard charging, anti-ballad (while featuring my undying astonishment at my girl!). Even though I got to play the rhythm guitar on this, I brought in the big guns in Robert Bittle, my fellow X-teen from back in the day, Olly and Morgan Davis.

Words

I thought I had it all under control
I thought, bless my soul, I can hang, I can hold with the punches
I thought I was already done
'cause I'd had my fun and I needed to run from my hunches

Fish gotta swim
Bird Gotta Fly
and I gotta love you

I thought I'd had my day in the sun
Well, my time had come, I was over and done with my crushes
I figured I'd missed my chance
to make an advance on romance and its innocent blushes

Fish Gotta Swim
Bird Gotta Fly
and I gotta love you
